THE Lions Club of Tavistock is starting its search for a young lady to wear the glittering tiara and wave a royal hand at this year's spectacular Tavistock Carnival.
Now is the chance for three lucky youngsters to win a chance to step up to the vacant throne as the new carnival princess and attendants. All young ladies who apply, using the adjacent form, must be between the ages of 7 and 11 years on July 1 and live within the PL19 and PL20 postal districts. The competition is sponsored by Lawsons of Tavistock and the Times and the club is delighted with the continued support from both companies.
The judging will take place at the Tavistock Parish Church Centre in Plymouth Road on Tuesday, May 8 at 6pm with the official crowning during 'Funday in the Meadows' on Sunday, July 15 at 3pm. The carnival princess and attendants will lead the carnival procession through the streets of Tavistock on Saturday, July 21 so the lucky winners must be available for these dates.
Tavistock's ever popular carnival week starts on Saturday, July 14 with an action-packed week of events for all the family culminating in the procession the following Saturday.
The theme for this year is 'Great Britain' so watch out for the entry form that will be appearing in this paper in early June but now is the time to get your thinking caps on.
