Whitchurch v Roborough
THIS was another disappointing result for Whitchurch, who find themselves well off the pace with just three games gone.
A decisive toss was won by Roborough, who chose to field and therefore had the better of the conditions. The match started in light rain making batting difficult. Tight bowling from Cload (1-16) and House (2-27) restricted Whitchurch to 14-2 when heavier rain delayed the game for an hour.
Whitchurch needed to press on after the resumption and did so through Barriball (67) and Chappell (22) before both fell to White (2-48). Whitchurch eventually closed their innings on 153 for 6.
Roborough made a rapid reply. Wilson (29) and Gaylard (26) bringing up the 50 in only the eighth over. From there things were always going to be difficult for Whitchurch but 2 wickets apiece from Mansfield and Lavis meant they at least went down with a fight.
Roborough 18 points beat Whitchurch, 5 points, by 6 wickets.
This week Whitchurch are home again, this time to struggling Woodland Fort. Meanwhile the Tamar League side are back in action away at Buckland.
