THE WHITCHURCH Wayfarers held their annual presentation night at the club last Saturday. The event was well attended by colts, parents and senior players.

Nick Henderson from sponsors Mansbridge and Balment was on hand to present the trophies to the various winners.

Among the winners were: - Pedrick Cup, presented to the best colt, Charlie Barriball; Beaver Cup, presented to the most improved colt, Christian Hodges; Den Crocker Shield, presented to the Junior Clubman, was shared between Dom and Josh Monger.

The seniors' presentation followed straight on. The second XI won promotion this season and awards were presented to Josh Vernon (best bowler), Paul Daymond (best batsman) and Bob Powell (captain's player).

The first XI completed the great escape, gathering 62 points from the last available 80, to haul themselves off the bottom of the table and to avoid relegation. Awards were presnted to Joe Trembath (best bowler), Aaron Churchill (best batsman) and (captain's player).

The most improved senior player award was presented to Aaron Churchill and the John Jackson fielder award to Nigel Barriball.

The final award of the evening, the Clubman of the Year, was presented to Hammy Kerswill. Neil Tamblin said 'Hammy' has been a fantastic asset for the club this season. He has worked tirlessly each week to get teams out on to the pitch, handling the last minute drop outs well within his stride. He has also run several quiz nights and other fundraising activities, as well as stepping in at short notice to make the teas.

Neil Tamblin, chairman of Whitchurch Wayfarers, said: 'Whitchurch wish to thank Mansbridge and Balment for their continued support of the club. Also, thanks go to Phil Gawman from Turners of Roborough for their sponsorship of the colts.

The club said it has been a very successful season and one on which it can build for next season.
