OKEHAMPTON Town and Hamlets Neighbourhood Planning Group is holding a one-off workshop on Saturday (March 25).
The ‘When a plan comes together’ workshop will be held between 11.30am and 1.30pm at Okehampton Town Hall.
The group has requested the need for your imagination and creativity in helping to development the neighbourhood plan.
Alison Duckers, chair of Okehampton Town and Hamlets Neighbourhood Planning Group, said: ‘This is a workshop with different — interactive ways of focusing on solutions.
‘We already know what the issues are, because the community told us through the survey we carried out last year. What we want to know now is what the community would like to do about traffic and transport, housing and land use, facilities in the hamlets, town centre development, tourism, jobs and the local economy.’
‘There will be loads of helpful information to hand and officers from the local authorities will be there to bring technical expertise.
‘We will even provide everyone who takes part with a snack lunch, so why not do your shopping and then come to the town hall before heading home. We will be upstairs of the town hall and there is a lift if needed. We will also have some activities for your children whilst you focus on the future of our town and hamlets.’
Alison said that there were two plans currently coming together, one was the Neighbourhood Plan for Okehampton town and hamlets and the second was the Joint Local Plan which covered West Devon, South Hams and Plymouth.
‘Through our neighbourhood plan we can put in place local policies which will make the Joint Local Plan work for Okehampton town and hamlets.
‘This is such an exciting opportunity for the community to shape our own future, so please, please join us on Saturday.’
