I LIKED the little drawing of the proposed new and improved Okehampton in your January 18 edition, especially the little tree, surely one of the most expensive in Devon.

But, planners, please listen to us. We do not need fancy paving slabs, nor ornamental seats. Neither do we need a tree in the middle of the road.

We need up to date hospital facilities. We need the latest hi-tech equipment in that hospital. And as Okehampton grows — and it is growing — our need will be even greater.

May I suggest that planners might have a quiet talk to Dr Nielson: he's a very reasonable chap. As a matter of fact he is my doctor and he has put me on tablets to keep my blood pressure down.

Is it any wonder!
