Okehampton Argyle 0
Pinhoe 2
OKEHAMPTON'S recent run of poor performances continued on Saturday with another home defeat.
Their problems started as early as the 15th minute when Paul Yip limped out of the game with a bad ankle. He was replaced by Daniel Johnson who gave another good performance.
Okehampton should have taken the lead when a shot was only parried by the keeper, but Pinhoe reacted more quickly to clear the ball.
Pinhoe took the lead with a simple header after Richard Bailey had saved well. The ball rebounded off the crossbar and the Pinhoe forward reacted quickly.
This seemed to put Argyle on the back-foot and almost immediately Pinhoe added a second. The Argyle defence lost possession and the Pinhoe forward seemed offside, but he rounded Bailey to score into an empty net.
During the last ten minutes of the half Argyle showed a little more passion but failed to score.
In the second half Argyle had the lion's share of possession but failed to break down a well organised defence. Ian Gill and Nic Pollard up front did not get much support, with the latter coming off with a bad ankle injury to be replaced by Adam Mortimer, his first game for three weeks after injury.
Danny Maddax also came off, to give Martyn Carver a run, who showed some nice touches with a couple of runs down the left flank.
Pinhoe worked hard off the ball giving Argyle no time. They were not a good side but showed Argyle that with determination and a will to win, you will achieve results. Argyle gave the ball away far too cheaply and at times did not look as if they wanted it back.
The Pinhoe manager told Argyle manager Paul Adams he thought it was the poorest performance he had seen from an Okehampton side.
This week Argyle are home again to Exeter Civil Service, kick off 3pm.
