WEST Devon’s new garden waste collection service has now been rolled out and households across the borough have been signing up since the launch.
The council is reminding residents that if they subscribe in September, the annual subscription will take them all the way through the summer to the next renewal date in a year’s time.
Cllr Robert Sampson, West Devon Borough Council’s lead member for commercial services, said: ‘Since the service runs from October 1 to September 30 annually, residents would receive the whole year for £40 if they sign up now. This works out at 80p a week. I urge residents to sign up before October. Don’t leave it too late!
‘Anyone subscribing after this time will still be paying the same but would still need to renew their subscriptions each September.’
The subscription runs for 50 weeks a year and residents are provided with four sacks which are issued with a permit. Residents are asked to attach a permit to each sack so the crews know who has subscribed to the service. You can include leaves, tree and grass cuttings, and weeds.
Residents who would like to sign up for garden waste collections, can do so at: www.westdevon.gov.uk/gardenwaste
Remember to put your garden waste out on collection day. Find your day at www.westdevon.gov.uk/wastecollectionday
Residents are reminded that garden waste will not be collected if put into black sack waste. Home composting is alternative way to deal with garden waste and competitively priced compost bins are available from the council.
