A HARD fought tag rugby tournament last Thursday saw a local primary school come up trumps ahead of 70 other teams.

Three Tavistock area schools took part in the West Devon Tag Rugby Tournament which was held at the College of St Mark and St John in Plymouth.

At the end of the group stages St Andrew?s Primary School from Buckland Monachorum were in second place, Tavistock Primary placed third and St Peter?s School were fifth.

But St Peter?s pulled out some extraordinary form to win their next four matches, eventually beating Leigham Primary in the final of the Large Schools Plate competition.

Tavistock progressed to the semi final stages of the Large Schools Shield competition but lost out to eventual winners Manor Primary School.
