THREE members of BATs (Bere Alston Trekker's) took part in the annual Plymouth Hoe 10 mile road race at the weekend.
This is a challenging course which includes steep climbs and a bracing run along the sea front. This race forms part of the London Marathon training for Simon and Pam, with Simon achieving a personal best.
Tavistock athlete Clare Short also took part in the Plymouth Hoe 10 mile road race on Sunday which attracted more than 600 runners.
The race tackles two laps of Plymouth Hoe and the Barbican and finishes at Brickfields in Devonport with a track finish. The day was perfect for running with a bright and warm weather.
Clare's time was 1 hour 28 minutes for the 10 miles placing her in 382nd position. She said: 'This was so much fun! It was my first road race of the year which is so was very different from all the trails I have been training on. It was nice to stride out a bit and enjoy the sun'.
Clare's next challenge is the Bath half marathon in two weeks time. The race was organised by Armada Athletics Forum which is an amalgam of athletics clubs in Plymouth, East Cornwall and West Devon.
