LAMERTON Pony Club has had a fantastic series of results from its members at the various area competitions, against branches from across the South West.

This year the club sent teams to all five area competitions with its mounted games team coming tenth, and in the dressage, the intermediate dressage team fourth.

At the end of July was the tetrathlon, where Adam Sandercock won the senior boys' class and Rebecca Potter came second in the senior girls; together with Kennan Fowlie, who put in a solid performance with an inexperienced horse, they won the team class and all three have qualified for the national championships as a senior mixed team.

In the riding phase out of all the competitors only Adam and Becca took all the direct routes and went clear! In addition, this weekend the two are representing the South West at the regional championships in Scotland. Hannah Gribble produced a fine clear round in the intermediate girls' class and was invited to the championships on the strength of her riding phase.

In the show jumping, Lara Hopkins came sixth in open class, and the intermediate team of Josh Langton, Naomi Tibbs, Georgie Dudden and Hannah Gribble came sixth - they also won the tack and turnout competition.

In the novice class Lamerton PC's team of Sophy Harper, Kelly Hughes, Heidi Lewis and Chloe Taylor Baker came fifth in the tack and turnout, and Chloe came fifth individually, qualifying for the National Novice Championships.

The intermediate individual class was won by Josh Langton — out of 70 in his class, only six competitors jumped a double clear (no faults in either of the two rounds). in difficult and muddy conditions, Josh on his hunter Willow jumped clear again. He is now looking forward to representing Lamerton at the National Pony Club Championships in Derbyshire this August.

At Merrymeet, the club's intermediate eventing team of Naomi Tibbs, Lara Hopkins, Georgie Dudden and Hannah Gribble won their class convincingly despite the difficult conditions: three of the four achieved clear cross country rounds amid the rain and the mud, qualifying them for the National Eventing Championships. In addition, Lara won her arena overall.

Helen Harris, the district commissioner of Lamerton PC said it was a hugely successful season so far for the Lamerton.
