North Okes U14s 24
Paignton U14s 7
NORTH Okes got off to a flying start with Connor Stevens breaking through a tackle and scoring shortly after kick-off.
Soon after Paignton's scrimmaging gave North/Okes a wake up call. Player for player they were much heavier and continued to cause a problem throughout the game.
North Okes lead did not last long as Paignton scored and the following ten minutes were a scrappy affair with plenty of spilt ball and, much to NorthOkes annoyance, plenty of scrums.
At half time Dan Fogerty came on for North Okes and added his pace into the game which Paignton just could not deal with - scoring to increase his side's lead.
Paignton dominated the game for a while but Declan Coyle and Adam Stanton for the home side both put in some crunching tackles. Continuing to defend hard until Liam Michel managed to spot a gap and ran two thirds of the pitch before being brought down but a lovely offload enabled North Okes to score and seal the game.
Tavistock U12s 35
Okehampton U12s 14
TAVISTOCK came through to win a tough match against a strong Okehampton side whose pack of forwards looked much taller and stronger.
The home side won an early scrum deep in their own half and the ball was passed quickly down the back line before James made a breaking run and was tackled just short of the try line; Callum took the ball from the quick penalty and went over to score. However, Oke came straight back and scored a similar try from a short penalty to level. Shortly after Ben L won a line out on halfway and from the ensuing maul George darted up the short side and jinked past a couple of defenders to score. The battling Tavistock scrum then took a heel against the head and the ball was passed out to Dan who squeezed into the corner to give Tavistock a 21-7 lead at halftime.
Oke came out firing after the interval and their powerful scrum drove over to reduce the deficit. The game flowed from end to end and Tavistock's Ethan had a piercing run before the Tavistock pack , including Steve, Harry, Cameron, Hugo, Will and Chris won another scrum and the ball was passed by Alex out to Bernie who scored. He then sealed the match with his second try after Lily had released the back division with a lovely pass. George and Ben G kicked all the conversions to give Tavistock victory.
Okehampton U11s 42
Swanage and Wareham U11s 0
OKEHAMPTON off the challenge of a huge touring side as visitors Swanage came off distinctly second best. A fired up Okes side delighted the large crowd on a glorious sunny Saturday afternoon.
The home defence was superb all match as they harried and hassled the visitors driving them back on numerous occasions. The first half was tight, Oke leading 14-0 at the interval thanks to tries from Greg Daniel and Ollie Ardon, both converted by Corey Holliday.
The second half saw Oke up the tempo, with some good handling and astute tactical kicking they began to dominate and registered four further scores. Leon Horne (2), Ollie Ardon and Joseph Stratton with a fine weaving run, were the second half try gatherers. Corey Holliday successfully added all four conversions.
This was a great squad effort that will hopefully provide a good platform for two upcoming tournaments for the U11s.
The visitors were asked to choose a player of the match and picked Greg Daniel for his powerful running and abrasive defence.
Oke U10s 10 tries
Swanage/Wareham U10s 20 tries
IT was tight at half time with Swanage leading by one try. In the second half, Oke continued to drive forward but at times were let down by their set plays. Their determination paid off eventually with a fine try from Nathan Tomkins. Swanage continued to press hard and with Oke tiring, scored another three tries in quick succession. A consolation try followed for Oke with a powerful run by Will Risdon who scored at the end of the match.
Oke U10s 10 tries
Swanage/Wareham
U10s 15 tries
THIS was a much better start for Oke who took the led from a Nathan try. Daniel, James, and Dai Chi tackled endlessly to try to halt the ever advancing opposition but they soon equalised.
Imogen Ogborne came into her own for Okes with some darting runs down the wing, only to be denied at the last minute both times by excellent tackling from Swanage. This was followed by a dropped ball by Nathan having scrabbled over the try line but he soon scored afterr stealing the ball in the line out. A better performance all round from Okes.
Tavistock RFC U9s 10
Plymstock Albion
Oaks U9s 45
TAVISTOCK U9s came crashing back to earth on Sunday against a strong, physical Plymstock team.
The Tavistock defence started strong and disciplined but soon became loose and ragged under the constant pressure. Brave tackling from Harry Richardson, Tom Gardener, Noah Berridge, Nicholas Buckeridge-Hobbs and Henry Varndell – Dawes was not enough to keep the score down.
Home backs Dan Pett, Jack Baker, Bryn bourton, Jack Bellamy on his debut and hooker Cameron Georgel worked hard to defend touchlines but the first 20 minutes of the game was played mostly in the Tavistock half with Plymstock using quick rips and width to run in several tries. The last 10 minutes saw Tavistock compete harder at the breakdown with scrum halves Jack Lancashire and James Kenyon providing quality ball for the likes of Oscar Campbell and Harry Richardson to gain the yards. With improved possession and dogged persistence came two well earned tries for Harry Edwards.
Okehampton U8s 12 tries
Paignton U8s 12 tries
LAST Sunday the Okes were at home to Paignton, and the weather was fine. They played two matches, the first being drawn 12 tries each; the second match saw Paignton win 14-13 tries. Okehampton played well, and worked as a team, passing between players at every opportunity and tagging hard. Every player in the team scored a try, which shows how hard everyone tried to win. Lewis Parker was player of the match and won the team squirrel.
Okehampton U7s 8 tries

IN a close match , a well organised Paignton team pushed Oke all the way in an entertaining match. Oke were captained by Indie who organised the team very well .
