STAFF from the Horn of Plenty at Gulworthy, along with masterchef Peter Gorton, last week handed over their largest-ever donation to Children's Hospice South West from the extremely popular charity lunches held during January and February. The money is being put towards the Precious Lives Appeal, which aims to raise £5 million to build a new children's hospice for the families in Plymouth and Cornwall. This year, donations from diners have reached an incredible £10,494 over the seven week period of the special lunches and, not surprisingly, they were fully booked. Judy Pride from Children's Hospice South West said: 'This is a wonderful reflection of how much hard work all the staff at the Hotel put into these lunches and of the fantastic welcome everyone receives. 'What could be better, Peter Gorton's superb food and a huge donation for our appeal? I am so grateful to everyone who came to the lunches for supporting this annual charity event and to the staff and owners Peter Gorton and Paul Roxton.' The Horn of Plenty is continuing its fundraising for the new hospice in April, when it will be staging an Art Exhibition and offering a set three course lunch for only £18.00. The exhibition and lunch will run from April 11 to 30. Peter Gorton has set himself the personal goal of completing the London Flora Marathon for the Appeal.
