The poor response to Andrew Motion's Millennium poem has moved me to put finger to keyboard and create the following:

Now the year two thousand has come,

Some think it's the Millennium,

But the truth is quite clear,

We must wait one more year,

For it's due in two thousand and one.

Unfortunately I believe that I am older than Andrew Motion and so shall be unlikely to succeed him as Poet Laureate.
