OCTOGENARIAN and well known Callington resident George Dawe completed a five hour dance-athon last Saturday — and said he could have kept dancing for longer.
83-year-old George 'tore up' the dance floor at Callington Town Hall for five hours straight in aid of the town's Kelliwik Festival.
He volunteered for the fundraising mission after visiting the festival earlier this year and heard that organisers were holding various fundraising events to raise enough money to be able to hold it again next year.
'I had nothing to do with the Kelliwik Festival this year but I went along and it was brilliant. They said there wouldn't be Lottery funding for it next year so I thought this is my turn to fundraise.'
George danced during the Late Night Dance with family band 'Yorkie' and said how pleased he was that so many people turned up to support his mammoth effort.
George said: 'Everyone seemed to have a good night and it was well attended.
'I want to say a big thank you to the town council, the Bull's Head and everyone that have backed me on this.'
