MEADOWLANDS Leisure Pool in Tavistock presented its 'Rookie Lifeguards' with 'gold three' certificates, after they completed the last stage of their Rookie Lifeguard training. Rookie Lifeguard is a programme which helps children to develop skills and knowledge on water safety, rescue, resuscitation and lifesaving sports skills.
Christine Gallie, swim school co-ordinator at Meadowlands Leisure Pool said: 'Rookie Lifeguards know how to stay safe near water and how to keep calm should a situation arise. All our Rookies excelled this year.'
David Dennis, business manager at Meadowlands Leisure Pool added: 'All our Rookies have worked so hard and showed true dedication this year. Particularly, Jessica Dingle, who suffers from arthrogryposis, meaning that due to stiff joints and muscle weakness, some of the Rookie tasks were very difficult for her. Congratulations!'
