LAST Saturday I was travelling on Dartmoor Railway from Sampford Courtney to Okehampton. Approximately halfway between the two stations the locomotive suffered a total serious failure, leaving the train and passengers stranded in a deep cutting.
The train crew, Dave driver, Doug guard and John the MD, acted very commendably all through the incident, carrying out all the laid down procedures perfectly and always keeping the passengers informed.
After about an hour, a relief loco arrived, complete with cold drinks. We eventually arrived at Okehampton after an hour and a half delay.
I would like to pass my thanks to all concerned and commend them for their professional attitude. I thoroughly recommend Dartmoor Railway to everyone.
