Horrabridge Rangers 2

Friary Vaults 0

HORRABRIDGE enjoyed a win, returning back home to Fillace Park after four weeks of frustration away.

Rangers saw team captain Mark Smith and Craig Russell return to the side. They domininated early on with winger Mike Cornish causing trouble for the Vaults left back down the right; he created a number of chances for forwards Martin Hughes and Nick Monk. Many of the chances fell to Hughes but these were stopped by the Vaults keeper.

In the 25th minute though the partnership worked together beautifully with Monk collecting the ball at his feet while using his strength to hold off his marker, then splitting the defence with a pass which Hughes ran on to and slotted past the keeper.

The second half kicked off with Friary Vaults a little hungrier, but the Horrabridge defence sucked up the pressure with a solid display from keeper Craig Mulholland pulling off some fine saves close range. Dan Bailey also stood out in the defensive midfielder role.

Rangers then piled the pressure on Vaults for the remainder of the game with Martin Hughes, hitting a superb goal from 35 yards. Vaults had a player sent off with two minutes left for abusive behaviour, but by then Horrabridge were clear and comfortable..
