Clyst St George v Tavistock
TAVISTOCK started the league campaign with a potentially tricky away trip to Clyst St George.
Having won the toss and electing to bowl Tavistock soon had Clyst on the rack at 24-5 thanks to a fine opening spell from Chris Hutchings (3-15) and the ever reliable Lee Baker (2-32). However, Clyst re-grouped thanks to a partnership of 58 from Hazel and Cook and they reached 70-5 at drinks.
The introduction of wily spinner Shaun Daymond after the break soon had the desired effect and with the aid of some great fielding Clyst collapsed from 82-5 to 98 all out. Daymond finishing with figures of 4-19.
Tavistock set about the chase and after the early loss of Josh Stephens, remaining opener Ian Gray and Daymond moved the score along to 34 before Daymond tickled one to the keeper for 11.
With the dark clouds looming David Manning upped the tempo before suffering the same fate as Daymond with the score on 73. Aaron Churchill came and went cheaply before Mark Webber and the patient Gray (47 not out) finished the job with 30 overs and six wickets to spare.
