HEAVY rain last weekend sparked the cancellation of the popular Kilworthy Point to Point last Saturday. The annual event is organised by Lamerton Hunt and attracts a large field of horses and riders. Michael Bickell, hunt chairman, said: ?We had to postpone the event on Saturday and now we have taken the decision to abandon it altogether because the going isn?t safe for horses or jockeys ? and we want to respect the landowner?s land. We can?t run it this week, so it?s abandoned for the foreseeable future.? Mr Bickell said no decision had been made yet as to whether the event could be held later in the point to point season. Mr Bickell said the weather on Saturday had been ?horrendous? and he paid tribute to everyone who had worked so hard to organise the point to point ? to no avail.
