CHARITY auctions in Tavistock Pannier Market are among the events being planned for Wear it Red day on February 14 which aims to raise lots of money for HeartSWell South West.

Stall holders at the market are organising a day packed full of events and trustee of the HeartSWell charity, David Wells, will be at the market all day holding auctions on the hour, every hour.

Over the past four years, Wear it Red has raised more than £4,000 and the charity hopes to dramatically increase that amount in 2009.

The suggested contribution is £1 to deck yourself out in red, but a fine of £2 if you don't participate because 'your heart's not in it'.

Other ideas include fancy dress pub crawls, dinner party, ladies' pamper evenings and themed office buffet lunches.

As well as supporting heart sufferers, their partners and carers, HeartSWell also raises funds for the purchase of cardiac equipment for the South West Cardiothoracic Centre at Derriford Hospital, owns its own lodge adjacent to the hospital where families can stay while their loved ones are having treatment, funds specialist nurses and provides information.

Any donations for the auction in Tavistock Pannier Market will be welcomed and David Wells can be contacted on 07968 581248.
