'WEAR it Red' — that's the message from local charity HeartSWell South West, which is hoping volunteer groups and individuals will be dressing up for a special Valentine's Day fundraising stunt on February 14. HeartSWell South West raises funds to buy cardiac equipment for the cardiology department at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth and support a specialist cardiac nurse counsellor. It also runs HeartSWell Lodge, adjacent to the hospital, where families and carers of patients from outside the Plymouth area can stay while their loved ones are receiving treatment at the hospital. Organisers are asking people to wear as little or as much red clothing as they want, although they say that head to toe with hair dyed red would be fantastic! They want schools and businesses to join in the fun to raise as much money as possible. They suggest a contribution of £1 to 'Wear it Red' but a 'fine' of £2 if you don't participate.
