THE family of a Spreyton man who died following a head-on collision on the main A3072 between Bow and North Tawton last week have paid tribute to their son. John Anthony Garrard, aged 26, died at the scene of the accident last Wednesday night ? just eight weeks after the birth of his first child, Trinity-Jay, to his partner, Claire. Mr Garrard?s parents Cheryl and Phil said their son had been travelling home from work at the time of the accident. ?This has left all our hearts broken and we will always miss him and love him forever. His family and friends will never forget him,? they said. The road was closed for seven hours following the accident, which occurred at around 4.50pm, when Mr Garrard?s gold coloured Peugeot was in collision with a silver coloured Lexus being driven from the direction of Bow. The 37-year-old female driver of the other vehicle, also from the Crediton area, was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital by police helicopter, suffering from leg and eye injuries. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Neither driver was carrying passengers. Police units from Exeter, Launceston, Crediton and Tiverton attended the crash, as well as ambulance crews and firefighters from North Tawton and Crediton. Police investigating the crash have appealed for any witnesses to contact Exeter traffic department on 08452 777444.
