HORSE owners in the Milton Abbot area have been warned to be vigilant after thieves stole a trailer and a generator from a stable yard in the past week.
Police believe the two thefts may be linked. The theft of the generator occurred between 1-3pm on Friday, February 21, at a stable yard in Milton Abbot. The horsebox trailer was taken from the same location between 10am-1pm on Tuesday, February 25.
The Ifor Williams 505 trailer was around six years old and had brown wooden panels. It was valued at around £2,000. The generator was a Honda with red body and silver frame.
Owner Louise Cox said: ?This area has been hard hit by thefts recently. The police are asking people to be more vigilant.?
She said police asked people when buying a second-hand horse trailer to look for a serial number and check it with the main dealers or with police, to make sure the trailer had not been stolen.
Mrs Cox said the trailer was parked in view of a house and would have been lifted onto vehicle before being transported off the site.
If you have any information about the stolen trailer or generator please contact PC Lawson at Tavistock Police Station on 08705 777444 quoting crime reference number JT/03/259.
