THERE was a good attendance by members of Spreyton Good Companions Club recently, who gathered to welcome Paul Curtis from Little Bridge House at Fremington. At the start of the meeting chairman Douglas Endacott asked for a minute?s silence in respect of the death of Dolly Toms and asked members to remember Marj Redstone, who was quite poorly in hospital. Paul Curtis showed wonderful pictures of the Children?s Hospice South West and the development of the new one at Charlton Farm near Bristol. Thanks to a raffle, run by Marion Hooper and Lorna Endacott, and a bring and buy stall run by Betty Endacott, members were able to give Paul £80 donations. Unfortunately there was a very small attendance at the bingo, held in aid of the village trust. This was organised by Carol Hole and Angela Hawkins. Caller was Dougie Callard, cash prizes were given with raffles donated so that a small profit was achieved. March is traditionally earmarked to raise money for the primary school. There will be a quiz at the Tom Cobley on Monday March 6 at 8pm. Entry fee £5 per team, with the questions set by Marion Pratt. On Saturday of that week Ken Vile and Angela Hawkins will organise a whist drive. Raffles for either event would be much appreciated.
