Buckley cup
Belstone v North Tawton
AN upset looked possible at Rew Meadow in the Buckley Cup game when North Tawton – taking the field with only seven players – reduced Belstone to 18 for three when chasing 92 for the win.
Earlier the visitors had batted out the final seven of their 20 overs with effectively their last men at the wicket as Tim Kitchen (10 not out) kept Stew Bragg company while he hit three fours and two sixes in his run-a-minute 41 not out. This represented a recovery from the halfway ten over score of 23 for three which was brought about by precision bowling from Jonathan Parsons (4-2-8-0) and Harry Bushin (4-2-8-2).
Belstone recovered from their 18 for three thanks to a solid 23 not out from Chris Walpole and a lightning ten minute cameo of 27 retired from Harry Bushin, which accelerated them to a six wicket victory with almost seven overs to spare.
Belstone maintained their 100% record of success in division five of the North Devon League last weekend but the only real winner was the weather as Saturday's League game against Heathcoat was abandoned after the visitors had reached 89 for no wicket from 24 overs and Sunday's league match against Filleigh never even started.
• This Saturday there is a car boot sale at Belstone cricket ground, sellers admitted from 9am and buyers from 10am.
