A GUIDED walk is being held on March 4 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the closure of the railway line to Princetown. Dartmoor lost this public transport facility almost 50 years ago. South West Lakes Trust, which is leading the walk, believes if it had survived into the 21st century it would have surely become one of the region?s top visitor attractions. Walkers will meet at Burrator Dam at 1.30pm and follow the track bed, tracing the history of railways in this area back to the early 19th century with historian Brian Poole. The five-mile walk over rough moorland will return by 5pm. Walking boots and waterproofs are essential in order to fully enjoy this walk and it is recommended participants bring their own refreshments. Further details are available from Burrator Lodge on 01822 855700.
