CHAGFORD firefighters have issued a plea for more local people to volunteer to join the fire service. The crew were at the recent Two Hills Race in Chagford hoping to recruit some new blood. It is felt rising house prices and a decline in local businesses have led to fewer people volunteering to become part of the retained service. Volunteers can be male or female, but must be over 18 years-old, reasonably fit, and live or work in the town.
