THE hard work of dedicated volunteers at Tavistock's Oxfam shop was recognised recently as they were presented with qualifications in customer service.

Thomas James Bulley, Amy Bamforth, Sophie Pickering and Jannette Ruth Jackson, were each presented with certificates for an NVQ level two in customer service, which they have been working towards while volunteering in the shop on West Street.

The qualification was given on completion of a six-month course, which will benefit them when looking for future employment.

Kim Shepherd, training consultant at Focus Training, who has been working with the volunteers throughout the course, said: 'I think the qualifications have given them a lot of confidence. There is such a diverse range of learners and Jackie (shop manager) has let them work in various departments within the shop, which is brilliant.'

Jannette Jackson said: 'Focus Training were lovely people to work with. This is something that is going to be very useful and it's something that has given us some confidence.'
