ANYONE who can spare a few hours a week are being asked to consider volunteering to help provide aid to people in Africa.
The Tavistock branch of Operation Sunshine, which sends practical aid directly to people in poverty in parts of East Africa, is appealing for volunteers to help in a variety of areas.
People are needed to help with the packing and sorting of goods, selling goods on E-bay, to understudy the organiser with aspects of her work, to assist the secretary with the newsletter and minutes — for which computer skills are essential, to help with talks, fundraising and publicity and to write letters, do research and make phone calls.
The charity will provide full training and support, and is looking for volunteers willing to learn about how it works and willing to take responsibility for a particular aspect of the work, even if their commitment is limited to one to two hours per week.
