AN appeal for a volunteer community fundraiser is being made by Tavistock Community Football Club. It follows a multi-million pound investment which has taken place in sporting facilities at Tavistock College and at Langsford Park.
A spokesman for the club said: 'We have the all weather training facilities at Tavistock College and also a brand new running track. Just across the road in Crowndale we now have the fantastic new "home and away team" changing rooms and shower facilities for junior and men's football.
'The new building hosts a very large function room above with great views over the Tavistock AFC ground.'
The spokesman said that next year, Tavistock and the surrounding villages will have access to the best junior football pitches available, from U8s mini soccer through to U18's.
The spokesman said: 'This has been a long time coming and only made possible by the effort and support from local volunteers over the past 15 years! 'Although the building is now finished we desperately need funds to finish off, pay the final bills and have a running costs fund.
'We can only do this with fund raising and so the Tavistock Community Football Club, who will run the facility at Crowndale, desperately needs a volunteer fundraising coordinator.'
Anyone who is interested in taking up this role should please contact Mick Calvert at Tavistock Thistles, Stuart Oloughlin of Tavistock Town or Derek Pethick of Tavistock AFC or ring Sue on 07786 962 402.
