A WEST Devon volunteer has been rewarded for her dedication working with local families by being named as a regional winner in the NCT Stars Awards.
NCT, previously known as the National Childbirth Trust, is the UK's largest charity for parents to recognise and celebrate the efforts of its volunteers who give their time and skills to support mums and dads in their communities.
Gayle Roberts, aged 37, was judged as regional winner of the most supportive volunteer.
The full time mum, to two boys aged three five, is a member of the NCT Plymouth and West Devon branch, where she has been a member for five years.
Judges said: 'Gayle has set up three successful home birth support groups which are well-attended and highly recommended throughout the community. She has strived to promote home birth and freedom of choice through attending meetings of her local Maternity Services Liaison Committee. She arranges birthing pools and pool liners, and has a wide range of resources she lends to clients. Gayle has also taken over as branch coordinator on top of her many other roles.'
