VOLUNTEERS' Week is a national celebration of volunteers and volunteering which takes place from June 1 to 7.

This year, Volunteers' Week is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

A spokesperson for Tavistock Volunteer Centre said: 'Volunteers' Week plays a huge part in raising the profile of the thousands of volunteers who regularly contribute to their community, while inspiring others to get involved, too.'

During the month of June, Tavistock and Okehampton Volunteer Centres are working with West Devon Borough Council to spread the word about the huge benefits of volunteering.

Residents are being urged to visit staff at any of the following venues:

l Friday June 11 at The Burrow Café, Exbourne, from 10am to noon

l Thursday June 11 at Belstone Village Hall from 10am to noon

l Tuesday June 23 at Hope Cottage Café, Bere Alston from 10am to noon

l Friday June 26 at Whiddons Tea Room, Chagford from 9.30am to noon.
