Plymouth Marjons 2 Okehampton Columbines 3 THIS was a good hockey win for Okehampton in their last league game this side of Christmas. The visitors were on top from the start and Plymouth were finding it hard to get the ball out of their half. But the ball just would not run for Okehampton, and they were stunned when Plymouth caught them on the break to take the lead. Columbines restored the balance when Sue Stanbury scored just before half-time. A more lively performance in the second half gave Okehampton the edge. Sandy Cockwill defended strongly and Netty Collett took control of the middle, linking well with Alex Collins who distributed the ball to set up the forwards. Okehampton?s second came from a penalty corner which fortuitously fell to Jo Stephens, who was well positioned on the post and forced the ball over the line. There was still work for Okehampton to do though because Marjons were strong when they did come forward and they equalised a few moments later. Okehampton?s winner came from a free hit by Collett into the circle, which was steered past the Marjons goalkeeper by Viv Weatherington for a deserved win.
