Devon League, Division B Tavistock 2nd XI v Plymstock 2nd XI AFTER looking at the wicket both sides wanted to win the toss and insert the opposition. When the Plymstock captain won it he had no hesitation in asking Tavistock to bat. Tavistock were in early trouble, losing S Johns bowled for 6. The wicket was helpful with variable bounce and seam movement. Captain John McGahey (16) was next, trapped lbw by a ball that never got off the ground. Tavistock lost three more quick wickets, the last Paul Strawbridge running himself out for 37. The revival was led by Dave Jefferies (35) and Roger Whittingham, 44, who helped give Tavistock a respectable total of l79. Plymstock got off to a quick start with 19 off the first four overs, before the Tavistock bowlers took over. Lee Baker, 4-34, Simon Gliddon 1-17 and Wayne Downham, 3-42, took over, reducing Plymstock to 66-6. And despite some late hitting by G Brown (27no) Plymstock were finally dismissed for 129. This gave Tavistock 19 points. This week they entertain Brixham up at the Ring.
