RESIDENTS in Walkhampton are being urged to make their views known at a special meeting in the village today (Thursday), regarding a recent planning decision by Dartmoor National Park Authority. The DNPA rejected a planning application for a local needs housing development adjacent to Knowle Terrace in Walkhampton earlier this year. But now applicant the Walkhampton Trust is appealing against the decision ? and Burrator Parish Council wants local people to make sure their views are known on the situation. Lucy Luke, parish council clerk, said there had been ?huge? opposition to the scheme. ?Most members of the public have written their own objection letters, so we hope they will attend the meeting ? but we?d like to make sure everyone knows about the appeal.? The application was turned down on three grounds. The committee objected to the loss of a significant length of important hedging, increased traffic movements at a junction with restricted visibility and the lack of an acceptance flood risk assesment report. The meeting, to which all residents are welcome, will be held in Walkhampton Memorial Hall at 7.30pm. Members of the public will be able to speak for a limited period of 15 minutes at the start.
