A CHARITY event held at the Prince of Wales in Princetown on Saturday raised an estimated £1,200 for St Luke's Hospice.

Organised in memory of well-known Princetown resident Liz Steele, the charity night saw young and old from the local community coming together to make the event a success.

The charity night was the third one held in three years and to date more than £6,000 has been raised for St Luke's Hospice.

Viki Steele said: 'My mum Liz lived in Princetown for 25 years and did a lot of work for West Devon Homes as a volunteer and worked at the Prince of Wales — she was a well known and popular person.

'This is a community and spirited event and Saturday was a very good evening and full of supporters.'

The night saw a raffle, an auction and a pool competition for both adults and children. The raffle was well supported with prizes being generously donated by many local businesses in Tavistock, Princetown and Two Bridges.
