BROADWOODKELLY has taken advantage of a new scheme offering websites free of charge to parish councils. The village's new website offers residents information about local events and promotes local businesses. The parish council has been working to put useful information on the website, but it has also been set up so that community events can be updated automatically. The new system also allows local not-for-profit clubs, societies and groups to have websites linked to the village site free of charge. The Broadwoodkelly website has been provided by 'The Local Channel', a private company that has provided free websites to parish and community councils across England, Wales and Scotland. Parish clerk David Lockyer publishes the minutes and agendas of parish meetings on the site, as well as a diary of events. 'I also upload my own weather information from the village,' he said. ' 'I know from feedback that people appreciate that.'
