A VILLAGE photography competition has started for the fifth year running, following its great success in 2012.

The Belstone Photographic Competition looks for the best pictures taken in the village parish throughout the year in three separate categories.

In 2012, Jane Herbert won the 'People, Pets and Ponies' category, Jane Metcalfe won the 'Beautiful Belstone' category, and Richard Penny won the 'Flowers, Ferns and Fungi' category. The winning photos will be mounted on canvas for display in Belstone Village Hall.

Entries for this year's competition can be sent to competition organisers Robin and Edwina Hill any time from now until November 1.

The 2013 competition has three classes — 'The Wild Side of Belstone', 'Shape and Pattern in Nature', and 'Belstone in Black and White'.

Each category has two age groups — under 18 and over 18, and a class for Belstone residents and non-residents. To enter the competition via e-mail, send your photo to [email protected]">[email protected] stating which category and class your photo is entered for, along with your name, address, date taken and any further interesting information about the photograph.
