RESIDENTS and businesses in Princetown threw themselves into the spirit of the fete last weekend, as the village staged a day of fun for everyone.
Complete with flags and bunting, Princetown took on a carnival atmosphere, and the shops and businesses decorated their windows for the event.
There were pirates in the post office, balloons at Duchy Square, decorated staff at the Foxtor Café and a teddy bears picnic at Lords Café and at The Cutting Room hairdressers, who ultimately won the top prize with their custom-made gingerbread bears.
The Prince of Wales pub hosted entertainment for the children, with a show by Emmazdad and a disco, and there were games, face painting and stalls and a very successful raffle with lots of prizes donated by businesses in the Tavistock, Princetown and Yelverton areas.
Organiser Su McGrady of Princetown Community Fund paid tribute to everyone who had helped support the event, including sponsors Mansbridge and Balment.
She said: It was great to have a fete in the middle of the village again the businesses were fantastic the way they got behind it, it really made the atmosphere good.
The Plymouth Mayflower Chorus sang Singing in the Rain in the pouring rain they really sang their hearts out and it started the event off really well.
All proceeds from the fete and other events organised by the community fund volunteers will be distributed to local organisations at the end of the year.
