CALLINGTON police are exploring the possibility of setting up a satellite police station in Gunnislake. Officers want a base in the village where they can gather intelligence, offer advice to members of the public and discuss issues of concern. The prime village location of the Oasis Centre is favoured by Callington sergeant Brett Phillips who said staff were receptive to the idea. The centre was used as a headquarters by South West Water during major water mains work which took place in Gunnislake earlier this year. 'We are waiting to see if we can go ahead with the idea at the moment,' said Sgt Phillips. 'When we get our second police community support officer next year it will be a place where members of the public can talk to them or a police officer in confidence.'
