Kelly College 1st XV. . . . . . 20

Plymouth College 1st XV. . . 8

KELLY opened the scoring with a well-struck penalty from Dan Green. Green followed this with a fine try, powering home after the ball was moved neatly along the Kelly three-quarter line.

When Plymouth failed to find touch, Kelly launched a counter attack culminating in captain Ollie Pitts extending the Kelly lead to 13-0 with another try.

With 25 minutes gone, Plymouth had hardly touched the ball, so great was the Kelly dominance.

However, Plymouth pulled back three points just before the break, but the game was effectively put beyond their reach soon after the re-start.

From a line out, Will Davis won the ball and fed off the top to Ed May at scrum half and the awaiting backs. A neat move between the centres Mark Galliford and Mark Slee created a gap for Galliford who scooted through. When he was tackled ten metres out, he had the strength and presence of mind to stay on his feet and find Slee in support who sprinted to the line for another try.

Green added the conversion and Kelly led 20-3. With the Plymouth team at their mercy, Kelly proceeded to take their foot off the pedal and allowed the visitors some ball. Three of the Kelly side were forced to leave the pitch through injury and although claiming a consolation score at the end, Plymouth had come, they had seen and they had been conquered!

Rendcomb College 1st XV. .14

RENDCOMB College from Cirencester were the visitors to Tavistock at the weekend.

They had played and beaten the Plymouth College 2nd XV 16-10 on Saturday and on Sunday, they took on the Kelly College 2nd XV. At kick off they to stormed into an 8-0 lead.

Kelly hit back on the stroke of half time, with a try for Toks Oyemade. This was duly converted by Ollie Pitts, the 1st XV captain, playing out of position at scrum half, and the score was brought back to 7-8. In the second half, Rendcomb kicked a penalty to stretch their lead only for Kelly to strike with a well-worked try. Although the conversion was missed, Kelly now led 12-11. Five minutes before the end, Rendcomb kicked another penalty to take the lead once more 14-12.

But the last word was destined to be with Pitts who got the winning penalty in the final minute.
