TAVISTOCK CC season ended with the annual Presidents day match. President Stuart Munday decided to bat, and the normally prolific Mark Horwill was unexpectedly out for 0. This left Robert Jarman and former Tavistock player Geoff Owen from the 1960's putting on 140 — Owen recently met up with Munday in an inter county over 60s game when Hampshire narrowly beat Devon. An enterprising 28 from Ben Warren gradually saw the President's side reach 208. Sean Cleave was the clubs best bowler with 3-27. The club started well with Luffman and Gray putting on 30. Gray was then clean bowled by Munday. Steve Luffman then came to the wicket and was soon in command making 47 excellent runs until being bowled by Munday. Plymouth's Dave Burke bowled exceptionally well finishing with 3-12 off of eight overs. Old Tavistock favourite John Gosling brought into the attack also bowled well finishing with 3-23. John McGahey had led a spirited fightback only to be run out. The result, a 20 run win for The Presidents XI giving the club's veteran seven wins on the trot as President.
