UP to four small aeroplanes from the 1940s era are expected to fly over a wartime arifield at Harrowbeer, Yelverton next Wednesday, to celebrate the publication of local best selling author Lilian Harry?s latest novel. A Song At Twilight (Orion £12.99) tells the story of RAF pilot Andrew Knight and his wife Alison who come to live in Milton Combe when he is posted to the airfield in 1943. But this is wartime, the skies are filled with danger and few people?s lives develop as they expect . . . Lilian Harry, who lives close to the airfield, is the author of more than 60 books. Most of these are set during the period of the second world war. A Song At Twilight has been enthusiastically supported by the Harrowbeer Special Interest Group, whose members are working to build an archive of the airfield and to provide interpretation boards to inform the public about its history. The new novel is to be launched at the Knightstone Restaurant, which was once the control tower of the airfield. Members of the Cornwall Flying Club are expected to arrive and circle over the airfield after the 7.30pm start.
