A NEW book of poems about Dartmoor, inspired by landscape and nature, joy and loss, people and animals, has now hit bookshops. Many of the 70 poems by 46 poets, including ?6 men in Dartmoor Prison?, came out of workshops organised by Moor Poets this year. The two-year-old organisation aims to encourage the writing, editing and publishing of contemporary poetry on Dartmoor and its appreciation by the wider public. The book cover, a colourful landscape with a cottage and a washing line, was designed by Dartmoor artist Petra Tilly and the book was printed by Moorprint of Manaton. Bookshops on and around the moor will be selling the second volume priced £5.99. Committee member Lucy Lepchani said: ?We hope that Moor Poets 2 will open a window on the lives of some of the people who live, work and visit here on Dartmoor and their relationship with the land and nature, and that readers will be inspired to visit these places for themselves and perhaps write about them.?
