A SECTION of Plymouth Road in Tavistock was closed by police last night (Tuesday, November 29) after a vehicle caught fire.

A fire crew from Tavistock attended the scene to find a single vehicle on fire that had caught fire accidentally just before 9pm. Crews arrived on scene and confirmed the vehicle well alight. They donned breathing apparatus sets and put the fire out using a compressed air foam jet. Police attended to assist with traffic control. The vehicle was severely damaged by the fire. Duty of care was left with the police.

The incident led to further road chaos, as a Stagecoach double decker bus was diverted up Pixon Lane due to the fire and got stuck under the old railway bridge; Pixon Lane was then closed by police while the bus was removed.
