POLICE are appealing for information after a newly planted garden at Princetown School was destroyed by vandals.
More than £200 of damage was done when plants around the old swimming pool were ripped up and thrown around, and pots broken.
The walled garden was created by pupils at the primary school, their parents, staff and the prison resettlement unit.
Headteacher Lynne Louden said the children and staff were devastated by the destruction, which occurred some time between 4.30pm last Thursday and 9am the following day.
?The garden was a place for the children to sit and chat during their breaks,? she said. ?To see it ruined overnight was devastating for all of us.
?The children were involved in the planting of shrubs and bulbs, and Mark, from the prison resettlement unit, put a great deal of effort into the project.?
Information given to the police so far leads them to believe young people in the area may be responsible.
The police urge anyone with information to contact them, quoting crime reference JT/04/31.
