OKEHAMPTON firefighters were called to Estrayer Park after a large oak tree fell and blocked the old A30 road into Okehampton on Saturday afternoon.
A van was in collision with the tree which had blown over in strong winds. One fire appliance from Okehampton was called to the scene at around 4pm on Saturday, May 4. First aid was given to the van driver at the scene, and the driver was later admitted to hospital.
Firefighters assisted by Devon Highways removed the tree from the road, which was blocked for almost two hours.
