AN EVENING of live music and entertainment was held recently at the Ordulph Arms to launch MusicBox?s new CD and website.
A supportive audience was treated to a variety of acts and a sum in excess of £100 was realised for the project, which is self-funded.
Sally Foxhall, non-executive chairperson of South Hams and West Devon Primary Care Trust, praised the help of the voluntary sector organisations and their significance in the community.
She emphasised the importance of self-help groups and the efforts made in trying to de-stigmatise mental ill health.
Ms Foxhall also remarked how valuable music was as a communication skill, helping people in raising their self-esteem and in gaining confidence and independence.
Paula Kovacs gave a demonstration on how she had been helped in her recovery through meditation, tai?chi and dance. This was followed by performances of songs and music by various member of MusicBox, who played some numbers ranging from blues to contemporary folk from their CD ?Abbey Rise?.
The evening was rounded off by Jarca, the popular group from East Cornwall.
