YOUR correspondent writes (Times, June 3): ?What would you rather see??

I?d like to answer . . I?d rather see nice coal-fired and oil-fired power stations using up as much of our fossil fuel reserves as possible before all the green idiots cover our land in stupid wind turbine forests.

The faster we use up our oil the better.

When are you all going to realise that we have oil reserves for 30 to 50 years tops? When the oil has gone, where do you go to buy your food and clothes? Will you be able to jump in your car, drive to the DIY and garden centre, then make your homes pretty to impress you friends? How are you going to run that nice new car with its shining new personalised number plate? How are we going to build more turbines, paint them or even grease the cogs that turn them?

While the oil runs out the Earth?s feedback systems will balance our planet. Deep-sea carbon burial will simply increase. There is no proof of climate change or global warming, just the natural oscillations or glacial interstadial. Records and studies have not been conducted long enough.

Did they panic about ?global warming? when Lynmouth was flattened in the 50s or when the Great Storm knocked Cromwell?s head from its spike in the early 1700s? Or the Thames froze over, 150 years later?

When the oil runs out human population will be curbed and life will return to its normal evolutionary pattern.

Why are you all panicking? We are all finite. Who do you all think you are to suppose that Homo Sapiens is powerful enough to tip the ecological balance.

Roll out the red carpet. I hope I live long enough to see the end of the Oil Age. No more stupid politicians. No more EU. No more speed cameras. Plenty of hunting though.
