Cadets from Kelly College's CCF Contingent have taken to the skies, gliding with the Dartmoor Gliding Society (DGS).
The cadets have been flying in two-seater K-13 gliders accompanied by experienced instructors from the DGS.
The opportunity to go gliding has gone down well with the cadets, Cadet Under Officer Darcey Ball described her first flight as 'simply fantastic!' and Cadet Warrant Officer Tom Elson-Knight thought the whole experience was 'Awesome, definitely something to be done again, I'm really keen to go solo'.
The cadets were also pleased to see headmaster Dr Graham Hawley enjoy two short flights.
As the days begin to close in after half-term the cadets' focus will turn to ground training in aeronautic skills in preparation for the return of fair weather in the spring. With a good grounding in those skills it is hoped to that some of the senior cadets will make their first solo flights in the summer of next year.
